We are a year 6 (with four year 5 students) class of predominantly Maori and Island students ranging in age from about 9 and a half to 11 years of age. Most of us have had either no or very limited experience of gardening, so we are learning as we go…our teacher Mr Baird has always had an organic vegetable garden, so hopefully he knows what to do!
Gardening is another way that we can learn things like measurement (maths), time management, working with nature…not against, working co-operatively, and planning.
